I'm trying to hook up my Cellport 3000 so that it will mute the radio when I'm on the phone. Where is the mute wire in a 2001 F-350? I would really apppreciate some help on this. Thanks a lot.

ummm.....I don't think Ford has a mute wire...but dont' hold me to it....here's what I would recommend for you to do...go to your local car audio store and ask for a wiring harness....look at the harness to see if it has a mute wire marked...if it does, than it has a mute wire, if not, than it doesn't...if it does, pull out the deck, plug the harness in, and tap the mute wire in the factory harness...than plug your factory deck back in, reset teh clock and all your preset stations..and you're good to go...
Or you could just askt he local shop or Ford Dealership, if there's a mute wire..easily done with a few phone calls so that way saves time and money...
If the deck doesn't have a mute wire on it....you'll ahve to get an aftermarket radio that supports that feature, if you're really headset on that function.......
Or if you're good with relays, you could have the relay switch the deck off when the Cell rings and on when you jhang up..if you need help doing that...just post, I'll help you out

That radio does have a mute wire and you can use the stereo as an external speaker. It will mute the radio and use the amplifier on the radio and the rf speaker for the cell phone. I will have to go through my notes and get back to you on which pins you can tap. But it is possible. I use to do it all the time but it's been a while since I have done one that I tapped into. I charge extra to the customer but I have cheap customers. :-)
