I have a focus which I need to install door locks and keyless in.  When I took the door panels off and a little upset.  It has a very short throw to start with and it's a  cable system versus linkage.  I have worked on cars with the new cable system but this one looks tough.  I have done the new miata and toyota tundra with no problems.  Anybody got any helpful hints or better yet pictures?  Thanks for any response.

you do not have to take the door panel off to do this. you have a negative door lock system test to see if you alarms output is negative or possitive if possitive you will need to convert each wire to negative and connect them to the vehicles wires located in the drivers side kick panel.  the wire colors are

lock -BLACK/ orange

unlock-BLACK / YELLOW

djfeamy2,

I guess you did not read it right or I did not explain it right.  Vehicle does not have power door locks now.  I need to add actuators to each door.  If it had door locks believe me this would be to easy.  I hope someone has some insight on an easy way to add actuators.

Thanks anyway,

DanDan

the old contour used to have the same system along with the last body 300z, what i did on the contour was to make my own hole on the door lock knob on the door it was intergrated in the handle then i just bent the rod to go in the hole . dont drill to big of a hole otherwise there will be too much play. good luck

Thanks securinu,

Thats what I do with the Toyota Tundra and the Miata.  The Focus uses a different lock knob as you say and I just don't see a possible solution right now.  I am going to the customer tomorrow and try again.  I may have to pull the lockset out and modify it to accept the new actuator.

drilling the hole is exactly what I've done also.. works great.. just have to be careful.. that's a little piece to be drilling in.. but just like the tundra and miata..
