I have a 2000 grand am, and i wanted to know how difficult it would be to install an alternator like this one.  https://store.yahoo.com/afterthoughtsauto/higoutal160a.html

also what special tools would be needed?

thanks

Very straight forward with simple hand tools. If you have any previous history on repairs on replacing your brakes, this will seem to like childs play.

Only word of advice is to ensure the proper amount of deflection / tension on the belt, once the unit is installed.

This would also be a great opportunity to upgrade your 3 primary cables to and from the battery / alternator / ground.
