MY DAD JUST BOUGHT A 2004 TRAILBLAZER AND HAS SINCE UPGRADED THE SPEAKERS AND KEPT THE STOCK OEM HEADUNIT. OBVIOUSLY JUST UPGRADING THE SPEAKERS DID NOT IMPROVE THE SOUND QUALITY SO I TOLD HIM TO BUY A 4 CHANNEL AMP AND THAT SHOULD IMPROVE THE SOUND. NOW MY PROBLEM IS TO FIND OUT THE BEST WAY TO INSTALL THE 4 CHANNEL AMP WITH THE STOCK HEADUNIT. I WAS HOPING THAT SOMEONE WITH A TRAILBLAZER  HAS DONE THIS BEFORE AND COULD HELP ME OUT. THANKS IN ADVANCE, BRAD

is there a good reason for him to buy an amp before he buys a HU?

An amplifier is only gong to just what it's supposed to do, amplify. It's not going to sound different, just louder. Start with a good quality Headunit.
