Does anyone know of a place online that has a good selection of installer tools at decent prices. There are a few items that I would like that Snap - On and Matco dont have. Thanks!

You will need a business certificate to buy. And you would need to call to set it up.
Don't really know what you are looking for, though.

One in particular are soft panel tools that will not mark up the dash on vehicles instead of the metal ones. Thanks for your input guys. I will look into the metra site.

For installer tools, Hard to say, I like shopping at the 99 cents store. The tools there are decent. I dont know lol i just like to save $$$ bling bling, and by myself a ring ring lol!
but try hardware stores. online.

Hey Steve! I just recently got a great tool from one of the guys I work with for removing panels, dash pieces etc.,Go to a local autoglass shop and ask them if they have any chicken sticks (they are plastic and are tapered on bith ends). I have 2 complete upper and lower tool chests filled with all kinds of installer tools but have found these to be one of the handiest! Ray | |

ditto on the "bone" as it is also called. Made out of some kinda resin-like plastic that is surprisingly hard to break (I have tried... believe me!) and will not mar anything you're prying against. Most useful trim tool you will ever get in your toolbox, hands down, bar none. Good for mixing epoxy, small amounts of filler, you name it.... stuff doesen't seem to stick to it either.
Something else indespensible is electrician's fish tape... the metal kind. 100 feet for $40. Lifetime supply, basically. Best thing I have found for going through grommets, under carpets, fishing for the $180 Snap-On sealed head ratchet that fell into the fender, probing behind things, cooking hotdogs on the fire, toasting marshmallows, and snaking things through a dash cavity.
Get creative, sometimes the most useful tools are the ones you need to make in a hurry to do one simple task (modifying a battery terminal puller to pull VW windshield wipers comes to mind)
Lisle also makes a lot of really good specialty body tools as well.

definitly get some klein crimpers, a good dmm, some craftsman tools will work just as well as snap on, but get a small snap on truck account for things like wire gophers etc. snap on also has the best soldering gun ive come across yet for like $68.00, only $8.00 more than the best craftsman. a good cordless drill. dewalts are nice. also from snap on get ya these three magnetic sockets in quarter inch drive- 7, 8, and 10mm... you'll thank me for that later. get a good razor knife, a dremel tool with a grinding bit and some cut off discs for cutting weird shaped abs. as far as snap on goes I have snap on everything because I have bad credit and couldnt get a sears card. If you can get a sears card then get a mother f***ing sears card! lol. you'll save tons. But like I said keep ur snap on guy around for the cool stuff that has great warranties. like those gophers i wear out every week running wires they just keep replacing to me for free! yay! theres alot of other stuff to get but dont get all caught up in over buying. watch what other installers use and ask questions on where they bought it and how much. you'll be happy ya did! good luck and peace! oh! ps.. get a grommet poker! there grreat ------------- Lathan Hites
