How can i test the spl in my car at my own house without having to go to a competition or something of the sort...any feedback would be excellent.

buy the new audio control maybe? it measures spl... www.audiocontrol.com

Yeah that will do it...The Audio control EPIC 160 is a decent way to see if you are improving or hurting your SPL when you make changes or to find your cars resonant frequency......I have found that it is usually about 4dB Lower than a Linear-X Meter....But other than that great way to tune your car....
