Does anyone know how to hook up a XBox/PS2 to their A/V system and maintain their game systems memory when the vehicle is turned off? any suggestions or "work arounds"?

You would need to find a way to supply constant power to the system. There would be a current draw associated with this idea, that you would need to find out or measure.

In a house, this is done automatically, as a wall outlet won't ever 'die out'. But in a car, you have only a finite amount of voltage to supply from the battery.

Basically, you would have to find a way to wire the game console similar to your in-dash receiver. Where this is a constant 12V, and an ACC 12V.

Good luck, hope this helps.

why are your game systems losing their memory anyway?  I have both ps2, and an xbox, and have left them unplugged for days at a time, and never lost any information.  You shouldn't have to worry about it.

silversi17,
when you turn on you xbox does it let it continue where you left off..i.e. When playing Halo2 and you turn off your car, and then the next time you're in your car and start playing you would have all the missions saved to the point where you stopped?
i swear i created a profile on the game but when i played it the next day the profile wasn't there. So my kids are stuck on the first level.
i'm gonna check on my game settings right now to make sure it's on auto-save.
Thanks guys

If it's not saving you're profile, there might be a problem with your xbox.

'stang,
Yeah, but not all games allow saves to a memory card.

the xbox is like a computer in that it saves some memory (game settings and saved levels) whether plugged in or not.  but some memory like system time and date will reset everytime its unplugged.  the ps2 uses a solid state memory card that won't be affected by power source at all
