I am installing an avistart 4501 in my wife's cirrus. I searched for some more clarity on the door locks, but couldn't find the info I need. I understand the door locks are a single-wire type and use resistors to signal to the body control unit whether to lock or unlock the door. Am I to use the +12V relay output of the avistart and use my own resistors on the WHITE/ lt green wire? Also, what is the door trigger used for? The keyless entry that came with the car is a two step type whereby pressing the unlock button once unlocks the drivers door and twice unlocks the rest. How can I preserve this function? This is the wiring diagram I found here. https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/detail.asp?info=alarm&year=2000&make=Chrysler&model=Cirrus&ID=17502&type=Alarm
Any help on the matter greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
David Martin
Dave;
The door trigger is to let the system know that the doors are open. The Cirrus uses a (-) negative type door trigger system wire located in a three (3) pin connector near the door jam, color is YELLOW. This wire tests 12 volts when the door is closed and (-) GROUND when door is open. The single door lock/unlock system uses a (+) type trigger system through two resistors. Use positive (+) trigger thru a 620 ohm resistor to lock, and a positive (+) trigger thru a 2.7K ohm resistor to unlock. Must use relays. If you want to retain the priority door lock system as decribed above your RS unit has to have this feature otherwise you can not accomplish this with just one output on the unlock circuit.

Is this the same for the 1999 Cirrus also???
Thanks
Mark
Just bought a used cirrus which has remote start installed. Key chain remote has unlock button (3 button remote) on it but is not wired up I was told. Would kindly appreciate a wiring diagram and some tips PLEASE.
Thanks
Mark
What brand of remote start is this? It might be written on the remote; if not you'll have to look under the dash for the remote start brain. The brain will most likely have some wiring info on it.
