My buddy has a 2000 Jetta, he took it to a mechanic to fix a check engine light. The mechanic screwed somethin up and now , his speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, sunroof, and trip go off and on. What the hell did this guy do? Oh yea the check engine light is still on... He told my friend to take it to the dealership but he dont have the loot for that. Any one know anything about this or ever have a similar problem?

I think you have a problem with an O2 sensor. One of my recent installs was a 2000 Jetta, and it had the same problems. The dealership said it was an O2 sensor. Unfortunately, this is very common for the Jettas, and it is a rare part to have ordered. You may have to check with the dealer on pricing and availability.
As for the new problems experienced, I have no idea. Sorry.
