ok, i know this is a easy truck but i've just run into a prob, i'm using an autostart car starter with a bypass module for passlock 2  i've double checked all the wires and (of course there all solderd, even if i can't spell right) i've program'd the remotes and the tach program'd properly, but when i go to start the vehicle useing the starter it turns over for half a second, just as the engine engages and then shuts off, i've tried a couple different ground spots and program'd the tach setting 3 different times (each time i reset the module) when i go to start the truck with the starter the security light doesn't come on and go into anti-theft mode. anyone have any info for me? maybe even post the wires so i can double check with the ones i have ( useing installer companion program which i've had probs with before)   and as for the tach wire i've got that on the front left coil on the purple wire  next to the pink.

ill be the first to tell ya, there arent many things as frustrating in this business as PASSLOCK.  i just did a 97 cavalier last night and the passlock interface appeared to be doing everything perfectly, and yet no start, only a crank.

even more frustrating, sometimes the interfaces work like a gem and i never look back but like last night it seems some cars dont want to work with me.

look into a passlock bypass schematic. should include something like two relays with a resistor.  and you wouldnt even need that if you didnt mind the theft light.  you can do a "no-fault start" by starting the vehicle then clipping the yellow (in yellow, black, white congif)(you could have three black wires) after all status lights go out in cluster. this is a one step process to defeat passlock 1,2,or 3, but will leave the theft light on.  the relay and resistor system will turn that off.

good luck

What bypas module did you use. It's definitely the Passlock II bypass that is wrong here. It's either you do not have a strong enough signal from the ground when running wire ( use a relay to boose this wire and isolate this from the passlock II relays/module ) or your resistance is out. Just for kicks, take the ground when running wire from the Autostart and ground it to chassis and see if the truck starts. If it does that means that you have to use a relay to boost the signal of the ground when running wire.

which engine? if its a 4.3 co to the coil pack, if its a 4.8, or a 5.3 go to the injector, the coils on the 8's will give false tach signals, as do the fords. use the BLACK/ white on cyl. 1

ok, well thanks for the info, but i was able to solve the prob myself, i think i had a blonde moment (even though i aint blonde) or something like that, i saw the  2 white wire in the orange sleeve and without a second thought whired up the data wire, i am useing the plxr bypass module and things went as they were suppose to. it was also an 11 hour day so i think that had a lil something to do with it, i asked the guy to come back tonight and i took another look and once i realised what i did i switched to the yellow data wire and reprogramed the module and it worked perfect. so now i know...no more 11 hour days :P
