Dual Batteries Didnt help too much

I just installed dual optimas in my jeep i have a plow and a winch for the summer. I thought by installing these i would maybe see a difference when i hit the plow switch however i really didnt my lights still dim and my heater system seems to die a little. i know i will have some of these effects with the plow but i thought the dual setup would help. I have the wired paralell. Some people say i should have two seperate grounds. i also have my switch for the plow into the fuse panel. it is only a switch and its basiaclly acting as a trigger so that shouldnt really cause any problems. if anyone has any suggestions let me know. thanks

Two batteries wont help much if you dont havea high output altenator. You need to be able to charge that electrical system. I would look for a new altenator.

I agree with Ravendarat. After the vehicle is started, all the electrical devices run primarily off the alternator. If you decide to replace it, talk to the shop where you are getting it from. Some units can be modified to put out a high output at lower engine speeds. This is better for plowing as most of the time your high current demands are sitting still and you are adjusting the plow or using the winch. Be sure to upgrade all your battery and charging cables to handle the extra current.

multi batteries are for running key off mostly (at least that's what I was always told)

i do have a heavy duty powermaster alternator.

if you have both batterise running off of the stock ground that could be part of your problem. first you need to replace the stock ground with at least a 2 gauge. and it is always a good idea to run each battery on a seperate ground. And what gauge wire did you use to hook up your second battery? do you have the primary power for you plow tapped to something or is it hooked up to the battery, which battery is it hooked up to. where is your second battery located. if you put it in the cab you are going to need a larger gauge cable to make it capable of even helping out.

Whoa there. With upgraded alt's and batteries you need to upgrade the wiring between them as well. First you need to add a 4/2 gauge wire between the batteries and the alternator. You also need to do a 2 gauge ground, at least.

If this has been done, then provide the power specs on the whinch.
