My remote car starter doesn't work when it's at around -20 degree.
So here is what happen:
i remote start my car today (-26 degree) but the car wont' start. it just make a click noise as if it want to start. then fail.
This only happen in cold weather. For the past 2 week when the weather is not AS COLD it works prefectly fine. everything work as normal.
now, i have stated that i do not have a block heater. But i use
mobil 1 5w-30. My guessing is, either my remote starter is busted
OR my stock battery is dying. it's a 1999 miata have been driving
it all year long for 5 years.
Can any car expert out there can help me? thx

i'd say battery, but you are able to start it manualy right? if so i'd get somone to check all the connections for both the rs and connections for the battery..are the terminals corroded?

Because your engine is really cold....When you turn the key the car it tries longer than your alarm module does. That is my guess. ------------- ~The Rookie~

i would guess that its the battery running low due to the weather. what if you lengthen the crank time with the remote strat just reprogram it really quick and see what happens if that deosnt work then set it back to the way it was and get a test done on the battery or do it yourself wit a DMM. or have a local shop take a look. you dont want to be stuck somewhere with a dead batter especially in that cold

Most remote starters will shut down below 10V
if your car battery is dropping below that during start you need a new battery.

i'll go get my battery check up ASAP thx a lot everyone I have a Innotek A-2000, i have been reading through the manuel,i can't seem to find a way to "lengthen the crank time with the remote start" How do you guys do it, if i were to reset my starter/alarm that only means i'll go back to the orginal setting. which is not what i want.. And i don't think unplug the battery for a 10 minute and put plug it back will makes a different too, i dun think that has anything to do with it. lol Any advice?

My Advice is Have both the battery and the R/S unit checked Professionally.

I side with Shaugn here, meter the battery during manual start and remote start. My initial guess was the crank duration, as I am not familiar with the starter that you have, perhaps one of the local guys for you can help. There was a topic started a while back by a English dude about things like this. If I find it I'll post up his link. Real prim and proper stiff upper lip kind of site as well, not what you would find on this side of the water.
