Ok, I'm trying to figure out where I can actually take the test locally. My two closest options are a library where the lady doesn't watch you, you are just isolated (For some reason I am not sure if this would meet standards.) or a local Career Center where the lady was about f'ing useless. I tried explaining the situation and she said the school had to send her the test, which I guess means somewhere like installer institute? Can anyone help me on what I need to know regarding a good site for taking the test? The library is a nice library. Also what kinda resources can you take with you? Calculator, paper? I just even re-read the MECP Basic Guide and it really didn't say anything more than 2 #2 Pencils(Duh).

How they proctor is up to them, the librarian will read you the instructions and time you. Mecp will send the test to the library(not a school)There is a form that you fill out and send to them and is located on MECP's website. I don't think you can have a calculator and you will need a #2 pencil.

Yea I think MECP will let a school, and a library proctor the test. I'm not sure what type of school they are looking for but I'm sure I seen that somewhere. But the library is probably your best bet.

I took mine at the library, what's the hold up? Just take the test! It is the honor system in some respects because not everyone can proctor a test properly. It is on the librarian and on you to be honest and answer the best you can. If you need a cheat sheet or calculator for the MECP basic test, give up car audio and look in the paper under: 'Landscape Laborer'.......get paid to get a tan! $6.50/hour!

Well I'm not exactly sure how complex the mathmatical equations are on the test... And landscaping actually pays fairly well.

Don't worry about the equations, especially on the basic exam. Can you remember E=I*R, and solve accordingly? How about P=E*I? You'll do fine. You're thinking into it way too much and don't need to be.

I'm not implying that all landscapers are low wage dim-wits, but the MECP is fairly easy as far as certifications go. All certifications should be taken seriously, the best way to make the test easier is to STUDY. If you graduated high school or even if you didn't, even if you were ever in a classroom at all, you should have enough brain power to solve: 1200 watts/ 12 volts = ? or 12 volts X 12 amps = ? Good luck, now go take the test!
