Hi group,
I have a truck which has both a standard 12v charging system and a second and seperate 24 volt power source system in it. It'a an older M880 military pickup. The truck has a 24volt generator in that system and has a buss that it sends cables to and from there goes to differnt locations on the truck.
I would like to use this second DC generator to power a plow and auxilary lighting and wondered if anyone is familiar with what I have or knows how I can get 12 volts out of 24 volts to run the seperate items I mentioned.
Thx
You can order a convertor from tessco you will need to know the currect draw you will be pulling so you can get the proper size. Plow pumps pull ALOT esp in the cold why don't you just run it off the existing 12 volt system? seems much easier... just add another battery works great with my truck....
good luck

I have a plow on my 77 Power Wagon now and it really hits the electrical system hard when I use it. I'm running a stock alternator and know I could get an aftermarket unit or upgrade kit which gives more amperage, but the electrical system of these dodge trucks is wired in a way that more amperage would usually end up melting wires and causing component failure. I am aware also of the rewiring fix for these trucks and will likely do that on the truck I am building and have the option of going with one of the upgrades for the alternator or installing a second unit. I have access to a 24 volt generator and wiring harness/components from the military issue pickups and thought about putting one in the truck which I could dedicate the plow circuitry to but would have to convert it to 12v.
What is the url for that manufacturer or component?
