can any of the obviously intelligent people here help me out..i have a 2004 gmc envoy xuv, just bought an after market tire pressure monitor. i need to power the receiving unit with a 12v line and an accessory (switched) line

in the old days i would just reach under the dash and help myself to a wire.  However, the dealer in town here says the electronics in this vehicle are so inter related that i can not do this

any one here clue me into a safe couple wires to splice into

thanks

Scot, most Gm's use the same color wiring for the main power harness. Take off the lower dash bezel under the steering wheel and expose the main power harness from the ignition cylinder. Pink wire should be +12v ignition and +12v constant should be red. Chances are they are a larger wire as compared to the rest. Make sure that the lines you hook up to these circuits have fuses on them.

heres how it went...could not find rear wiper fuse in dash. did not have the guts to mess with wiring in steering column. but...follow the wires, found a secondary fuse/relay distribution box under drivers seat..has a full time 12v line, many accesory fuses, and is convenient to my wiring.  so will use this

i appreciate the offers of help tho..thanks
