Hello all,

I'm installing a Bulldog remote starter/keyless entry in my wife's 1999 Pontiac Transport.  All went well, with the exception of the brake input.  The cold side of the brake switch has 600 Mv on it and is triggering the remote start shut down.  If worst comes to worst I will put a dedicated micro switch on the pedal for it, but why does the cold side have power on it?.  Would this somehow be related to the BCM?

TIA

Dave

Did you grab the WHITE wire at the switch for this connections ?

Yes got the white wire.  I got it figured out and had to put a diode in the white wire.  The van has auto on headlights, when they were on I would get around 600 Mv on the cold side but it was dead when they were off.

So now, what is better, tach or tachless?

TIA

Dave

Tach is recommended. Don't trust the tachless modes.

If you have power on the white wire at the brake switch when the park lights are on something is wrong.  Most likely the problem is a bad tail light bulb.  It filliment for the tail lights is likely broken and shorted to the brake light filliment.
