I have an 87 for taurus, and i was wanting to know if it's a 5 wire door lock, cuse it has pk/y and pk/lightg wires from in the side firewall, but i dont understand why i have to make a relay for it if im using a autopage 310 abd ive checked the unlock green wire and i get a pulse, and ive checked the lock blue wire and i get a pulse, so why cant i just use the green to unlock and the blue to unlock? if i put the alarm unlock green wire to the pk/lightgreen wire and the lock blue wire to the pk/y wire, use the unlock and lock function on the remote trigger, it doesnt lock and unlock, but i have a pulse from the alarm. so cant i just take the wires and use them without cutting, or do u have to? i need to know if someone can help explain how to do this cuse im lost eventhough i shouldnt, i should be done but i dont get why u need a relay ?can somne tell me if the colored pk/y and pk/LightG wires are + or - ? and if there is a way to do this where i can just put the alarm wires onto the doorlock wires and it work ? if u can understand this please email or post a response to help me.
Thanx,

You need to use two relays in order to allow the locks to function. The easiest way is to get a dei piece called the 451m, its just two relays basically. If you are just going to use two relays you just need to have the diagram on how to hook them up. Basically you will have a motor side and a switch side. When cut the switch side will show voltage and the motor side will not. if you need the diagram for the wiring of the two relays e mail me and i can get it back to you if needed. bmnicolo@uno.edu

The system is made to isolate power going to the switch. If you direct feed power to the wire, you will fry the switch and the door locks will not operate after this. Using relays will mimic the OEM system and only apply power to the door lock motors and away from the switch.
