Can I use a distrobution block as a "ground block" I am talking about running three 8 guage wires into the outlet side and one 4 gauge in to the inlet side then grounding the 4ga. will this work?

Yes, it will work. I don't believe you should have any problems unless the amps you are trying to connect all pull a whole lot of amparage.. I have a similar setup using a 3 phase distribution block from a water heater . It has 4 ga to batt and also to ground and many 8ga running to amps, crossover,cd changer.... I don't have any problems except I am using a stock alternator and I am killing my battery.

depending on the amps you need to watch out because 4 guages is only equal to 2 8 guage and you are putting three 8 guage to one 4 guage wire. you may have insufficient ground. but like he already said it depends on the amps.
