Ok so heres the deal I've been doing audio for myself and friends for a couple of years now and my current setup is 2s10l7's running off of a JBL BP1200.1 lego amp, I also have a jensen 600x4 running my memphis mids and highs. I have an optima red top (900+ cca if I remember correctly). A month or two after I bought my new battery I started getting a bunch of trouble. I.E. My airbag light started flashing my brake light started flashing. Anyways I took my car to autozone and had them pull the code and they told me that my alternator was going. On my way home from autozone my alternator died. I'm currently looking at either getting a Mr. Alternator H.O. alternator with 150 amps and approx 80 amps at idle, or should I just get another stock alternator I believe its 80 amps while running I'm not sure what it is at idle.

What do you guys think I should do. The Mr. Alternator has a 1 yr warranty, and costs $265 U.S. and the stock alternator has anywhere from a 1 yr warranty to a lifetime warranty and costs $160 U.S.

Thanks for your help I appreciate it

Kev

1 other thing I forgot to mention is that I have 4 gauge going all the way back from the batter to the amps....

ALso another question that I just remembered is....

Should I run a fused piece of 4 gauge wiring from the alternator out to the battery + would that help me at all?

I would definitely go with a HO alternator, not the stock one. If you look around you should be able to find one for less money than that and with a better warranty.
