hi, i have a strange problem, hoping someone here can give some advice.
I just put in an RF Power450s 2 channel amp to power 2 Audiobahn 12's, and i couldn't get any power to it. I have a Blaupunkt Casablanca CD50 and an MTX Thunder 204 running my cabin speakers. i had this setup for awhile now with a pyramid POS amp running my 2 12's. everything was fine except for a little sloppy bass, but i had some cash laying around so i picked up the RF amp for my subs...anyways, the only way i could get the RF amp to power on was with my old Sony HU (which really sucked). does anyone have any idea what i'm talking about? i'm pretty new to car audio, but i think it might be the REM 12v lead on the Blaupunkt HU? but how come when i connect the old pyramid amp it works along with the MTX amp...and when i connect the RF amp, neither MTX nor the RF one get any power?!?!..
i'd really like to use the Blaupunkt unit, anyone got any suggestions??
thanks!
Try temporarily connecting 12v+ from the battery to the remote turn on of the amp. If it turns on, then you probably aren't getting enough power to the remote terminal to turn on the RF. If so, you can use a relay to turn it on as diagrammed here:

If that doen't work, it's probably a problem with the amp.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I tapped into my cigarette lighter for a constant 12v and the amp turned on before. I don't think there's anything wrong with the amp, i have everything up and running - with my Sony unit though...I'd rather not get into making a separate switch for the amp, I'm just stumped why the blaupunkt unit won't power up the RF amp but the sony unit will??
You can take a switched ignition wire from your ignition column to power the remote turn on for the amplifier. This way, everytime you shut off the car the amp turns off as well. Just make sure you fuse the connection to this wire with a 5 amp fuse.

The relay woudln't be a seperate switch...it's works off of the HU remote turn on lead. It just gives that amp more turn on juice to the contact point. And they really are cheap and easy. A relay w/ harness goes for like $4 @ Napa.

yeah, i took a look at that diagram..i misunderstood what you meant by using a relay. . .thanks again for the info! i'll try it out this weekend
