hi. i have a toyota celica st 1989 and my passenger side door jamb does not work anymore. when the passenger door is open it does not trigger the dome light or it does not show on the dashboard. how does the door jamb work? is it when the door is close the switch is 'open' and the when the door is open the switch is 'close' to make the line connect   to the ground? thanks.

<> where can i get them cheap?

Typically when you open the door, this completes the circuit to trigger the dome light.

You could simply verify that the switch is not corroded. If so, clean the contacts and see if it makes a difference.

Only things lost is time, and sweat equity on your part. Otherwise you could go to the junk yard and buy a used one. But, that would only be a band-aid to your problem, right.

This assumes that the switch is, the culprit and nothing else is faulty such as a open in the wiring.

i had looked at the switch there's no screw to open it, it hard molded so if i open it it would break but i'll try to open it first before i'll look for a replacement. thanks.
