Also this sounds f**ked up or does it. I unhooked the battery in a 2002 Grand Am and when I rehooked it back up, the check engine light is on.

Any suggestions on how to clear the codes or why it came on.

Many will say to leave the battery disconnected for a period of time usually 5-15 minutes. Worse comes to worse if you have a local Autozone auto parts store they can reset your computer codes at no charge. 96 and up vehicles
