I have installed 2 tachs on a honda civic 2000 using the tach signal wire on the wheel well. I have noticed that there is no way the gauges are right, they both show numbers about half what i think they should be at.....is this beacause they are sharing the signal??? one is a digital tach the other is a mechanical one, they are both 2" and mounted on the pillar pod.

What brand are they. I find that the internal components that pick up the tach signal on certain brands not very good and this gives you a false RPM reading. Try removing one of the tach inputs and see if the reading changes.
