Cat 5 should be fine.. another choice is Cat 5 enhanced.

But Cat 5 should work fine for you. You can probably look up specs, but Cat 5 should be good.

Cat 3 will even work Your broadband connection probably maxes out at 3MB and CAT 3 maxes out at 10MB.

But if it is between xbox and pc then it will run faster then 10mb... with my older 10m/b style cable i could only transfer at 1000 k/sec and now i am up to 3000-4000 k/sec.I am currently using just a simple cat5 crossover cable (dont have a router)

Just use Cat 5. For s 75 ft run you're looking at ~$15 - $20 for it to be made.

UTP cable is rated as follows
Cat 3 is rated only for 10Mb/sec
Cat 5 is rated for 100Mbs
Cat 6 can be run up to Gb speed

Having a higher rated cable will not make your connection run faster, i.e. if you have a 100Mb card in your pc, having a Cat 6 or even fiber it will still run at 100Mb.

Maximum distance for UTP cable is 100M or 328'

Cat 5 cable is dirt cheap, you can buy 1000' roll for $50-60

Hope this helps
