i want to install a backup camer in my truck to my alpine tv. now i found a few cameras that are really small but they work on 6-9v range . can i cut down the power somehow maybe with a resistor.

also will it get to hot and burn or anything. i dont want to start a fire. can someone plese tell me what i should do

I suggest trying to find one that is 12 volts as opposed to regulating the current. The resistor will heat up and you don't want a melt down on your electrical system or your car.

You can always use a step down transformer, but If your not experienced in building power supplies, I would recommend you have someone build one for you...
