Sorry I'm a new-bee and I've searched here but ...

I need the wiring info to tap a wire from the dome light for lighted running boards for an '04 F-150.  If it matters, the truck has every option you can buy.

I'd appreciate the help - have Sure-Grip boards & I'm adding the light kit now that it's available.

Thank you in advance for your help!

I can't tell you the color from memory, but I usually take a logic probe to the harness that runs up the a-pillar and test until I find it.

The domelight wire is BLACK/ blue (+) in the drivers door sill harness. The park light wire if you need it is brown (+) in the same harness.

Thanks Mike I'll check it out - now if I only knew what a "driver's door sill harness was .."

:-)  Thanks

There is a 5 wire plug which is provided for a brake booster which should be at the bottom of your dash just above the gas pedal. This plug has 5 wires in it (red, white, green, black, and brown IIRC) and it is not terminated or connected to anything. I suggest using the brown and red wire in this plug for your aftermarket wiring. It is fused seperately and quite accessible. Use a relay to have a switched high current output to your running boards.

Relay pins.

85 - black
86 - brown
30 - Red
87 - to you running boards
87a - not used.

The door sill is the panel that snaps in place below the door and covers the edge of the carpet.
