I have a friend that we are going to this junkyard, and they have this 1994 Caprice what used to be a cop car. Anyway the owner at the junkyard says that the motor will run no problem; but he doesn't have a key to start the motor. My question is there a way that we can get this car started without calling a locksmith or such. Thanks

The key is going to have a VATS resistor built in (1 of 15 values).  Do a search on Google, and you can probably find them.  It sucks though, because you'll have to find the right one through trial and error since you don't know what value the key had.  I think I read somewhere that you have to wait 10 minutes or so before you can try the next one, because the BCM activates a starter kill or something like that?  Perhaps someone can clear this up for us.

Now you'll either need a key to turn the ignition switch, or you'll have to break the lock on the steering column (which you'll replace later) because you won't be able to turn the wheel without doing one of those.
