So, I was a bad boy this morning.  I was driving to work in my girlfriends car, and we agreed not to smoke in it because it has really nice leather, so anyway I was smoking in it and I went to ash out of the open sunroof, and this is at 6:30AM after I went to bed at 2:30AM, so I was in no state to be driving in the first place, but I mashed the cherry of my cig. into the ceiling (I can't think of the right word for it; I am still really tired) and left a pinky sized burnmark in the fabric, and then burnt the sheite out of me because of the raining burning embers.

So anyway I am desperately looking for a tip or trick to fix this before or after she sees this; I am sure she will not care as much if i can fix this.

The fabric is very thin, so I was thinking about taking some of her panels off that connect to the roof and cutting a small amount of the fabric from there (where it's tucked behind the panels) and then glueing it into place the best I can,

or I also thought of getting some similar fabric and trying to shave off some fibers, gluing the hole and just pressing the fibers into place, this would probably look better than the other option.

Hopefully someone else has touched up their interiors after some idiot burnt a hole in it, so if you have any suggestions please help.

Oh and I know the humor around here, so I won't take "quit smoking" as a suggestion, that won't fix the burn in the interior or my lungs.

Please help... god I hate begging, but you have got to understand the wrath of a pissed off girlfriend with a big burn in her perfect clean interior.

eh? what did you just say?

Replace the fabric for the entire headliner. It is actually pretty(like 12 bucks for the material and 10 bucks for a GOOD can of spray glue) cheap BUT is alot of work. Also quit smoking, or atleast quit ashing out of the sunroof(I never understood that).

Hey, quitting smoking is one of the hardest things you can do.

I was afraid I would have to replace the whole thing, but luckally it should be relatively easy with this car.

I think I will try to glue the fibers in the hole with some flexible glue, and if it looks bad, at least I know that replacing the whole thing won't be too expensive, but somewhat labor intensive.

I actually plan on re-doing the interior on my Cutlass, so I think I will do both at the same time.

I'm willing to bet that replacing the headliner will be easier than quiting smoking.

since the car has leather maybe you should do the headliner in leather too. then she wont mind the replacement as much.

From now on ash out the window, or in the ashtray, doing it out the sunroof seems like a pain in the ash (sorry i couldnt resist).

I am always really careful when I have a cigar while im in my car, and I make sure everyone who smokes in my car knows there is a penalty of death if they burn my interior.

Some of my friends cars have interiors that are covered in little burns, and my cavalier had a huge burn in the drivers seat from when some idiot threw a lit cigarette iside it when I left the window open, they also dumped beer all over the seat...I wasnt to happy when I got back to my car that night!

Leather, no. Suede, yes. I love my suede headliner.

Suede might get me laid, ok that was a terrible rhyme, but I am sure she would love that thanks for the great ideas guys, the headliner was getting kind of dingy and a little dirty anyway, so maybe this was menat to happen or something like that.
