My friend went to this place last week and got a system put into his '04 Ram. He paid like $3500 for and Eclipse AVN-5435, Memphis coax's in all 4 doors, a 4 channel Memphis ams, a 2 channel Orion amp and 2 c-class Orion 12's in a prefab box under the rear seat. The install on the 5435 is half assed, they said they would make it look like it was factory. all they did was cut the radio bezel, cut the ends off a DIN install kit and glue them to the sides. My biggest issue is the noise. I went with him to pick it up and the owner was showing him the truck and I pointed out that there was some serios ground loop noise and the guy tried to act like he didn't hear anything. It was hela loud! Anyways after about 5 minutes he calls his "installer" over and tries to feed us some bullsh*t about how there's no was to get rid of it because the HU is so big, and that the amps have "ground loops built in". Needless to say I'm going to be rewiring most of it for him this weekend. Sorry for the long rant, I just hate to see people pay top dollar for half-assed work

Yeah....that sucks man! My sister got a install and all you can hear is the ground noise...I will fix it for her next times shes in town. Do once do it right!

Sounds to me that if your friend paid the $3500 and you guys left the install shop with the system still making all that noise that the installer won!! I realize you're going to fix it for your friend but there is no way in hell I'd have left that shop after having paid all that money, especially after some bull$hhh excuse like that (the HU is so big?....never heard that one before...LMAO).
Do others on here a favor and name the installer & city so others won't go to this guy and get ripped off.

I personally would not have left the shop until it was fixed. I am sure they provide some type of warranty on their work, and soon as you touch it, its void. If you pay for their services, they are required to complete them satisfactory, as in your friends case, or you are entitled to your money back. So he basically gave them money for an install that he never got. And now that the vehicle has left the shop, your friend has no leg to stand on, they can say that the vehicle was tampered with, and therefore caused the noise. Also, some manufacturers offer different warranties on their equipment if they are installed by an authorized dealer, which also will be voided soon as you touch the vehicle. ( i.e. Zapco offers a one year warranty if you install it, a three year if it is installed by an authorized dealer.) If I am not mistaken, Eclipse also has a policy something to that effect. ( I may be wrong, I just think I remember something to that effect.) I am not taking sides here, I am just giving a little insight on the subject, and why it may be a good idea to bring it back to them and make them complete the install vs. you climbing in there and voiding warranties. If your friend hasn't tampered with the install yet, and they refuse to correct the problem, I would advise your friend to take legal action, by talking to a lawyer and reporting them to the BBB. -------------

I've been to Sound America in Ft. Meyers I live in Kansas. The guys at the shop don't know what the heck they are talking about. I wouldn't be surprised that they did a crappy install on his vehicle. I agree with the others that he shouldn't have left the shop with it looking like that until they fixed the problem. People take it to the professionals to do a professional job not to get crap.

NEW UPDATE: He's taking it back there this week. Over the weekend he was at a BBQ and had his doors open with the system on and the amp for his highs started overheating and turned off about 4 times. He said he had the volume up on about 60 (the HU goes to like 90 i think) and it wasnt all that hot. The amp is under his passenger seat and there was nothing on top of it. He said he touched it and it burned his hand. He even turned on the truck and the rear footwell air conditioning adn it still kept heating up. I listend to it today at that volume and it wasn't excessivley loud, and there was no distortion, so I dunno what would make it overheat. By the way I had it backwards, its a 4 channel orion amp for the highs, not a memphis amp. It the Orion 4004. -------------

That's why I do all my own installs. can't trust most of the shops. My neighbor has the same problem with his amp turning off. hot and could and its a brand new amp. I checked the wiring and everything looks fine, anything that i might of over looked? Thanks
