i have a 1994 honda civic lx.  i am going to put a huge stereo in it, ao i would like to get a bigger alternator.  my stock on is putting out 70A.  the one i am looking at puts out 160A.  some car mechanic told me that i can't put in a bigger alternator because it would mess up my engine.  and the alternator i am looking at is made to fit my car.  so i was just wondering if this was true?

THESE ARE THE SPEC OF THE NEW ALTERNATOR

Extra Heavy Duty Hi Amp Alternator 160 Amps Full Output, 105 Amps Idle

This unit fits

1992-1995 Honda Civic 1.5,1.6L

1993-1995 Honda Civic Del Sol 1.5,1.6L

Replaces: 100211-9770, 100211-0250

That's quite a nice alt. The reason I believe the mechanic told you you couldn't get a bigger alt is because with more power output, more drag is placed on the motor.

But I could be wrong.
