Hiya gang,

Just wondering if any of you have any hands on information of MD's school. I've been looking for schools in my area and only found 1, IIT's. I read one persons account of the school..which was less than failing and the other I found was clear across the U.S., Mobile Dynamics in AZ. MD was about $1,500 more than IIT and I figured "you get what you pay for" and MD was 4 weeks longer, which I liked. I'm thinking of attending their 8 week class Aug. 1st. I don't work in the field and my only experience in ME is from working on my cars systems since I could drive. <putting 8 ohm 15' JBL towers in the backseat of my first car was a good idea at the time> :) Now I over-do it the right way.

I just want to know what to expect or what not to expect...etc.etc. PM's are welcome so I don't sound like a moron compared to the 12 year old mater installer who wired his whole town with surround sound. <I'm sure there is one out there> :)

Any opinions are welcome.

Thanks ya'll,

D.

www.directedsnakepit.com

Check out this site. I attended  a few months ago and it was excellent training at a very reasonable cost.  It is in Vista, CA. ( about 30 mile north of San Diego)  They hook you up with a good hotel rate. and  free lunches with the cost of tuition.   The company who owns the "Snake Pit is Directed Electronic, you may know some of their products Clifford, Viper, BOA, and several other higher end security  and audio systems.

I went to MD @ Toronto in 98 or 99. For someone with no experience mainly doing friend cars and the like, it's invaluable. For an experienced installer, it wouldn't be worth the price IMO. Also note NO school that I've seen is going to allow you to jump in and be an installer. You will still need to have your hand held, and still be the clueless new guy for quite a while. However you will have the basic background needed to figure through things which makes a world of difference.

haha mike!

Yeah I figured as much about the hand holding. As long as I don't have to date any of them, it's cool. I don't mind being the "noob" but I'm just slightly worried about the testing and the available hands on work. I don't want to be the 5th guy trying to eek his way into the car to get some experience working on things.

Did you have any problems there? likes or dislikes about MD's teacher/student ratio?

Thanks mike.
