I have a '93 Nissan Quest that is used for long road trips and I want to upgrade the stereo. It has 6 3/4 front door speakers, 6x8 rear panel speakers, and it has a factory subwoofer in the rear right panel beneath the rear speaker. I have looked all over and found nothing about this wiring. I have a Nissan Quest repair manual that I bought from the dealership, but it shows that the amp running the sub also pushes the other four speakers.
Does anyone have any idea about this, and does anyone have any suggestions for an upgrade? I was thinking about using all Polk or Infinity speakers, and a Sony tape deck controlling a 10 disc changer. I will upgrade to an 8" or 10" sub, but I am not sure what to do about that amp. Any ideas or info on this system would be appreciated.
If your thinking of an entire system upgrade, you will not want to use the OEM wiring because you will likely have to mount the amp in the same location that the OEM amp is located ( and chances are they will not be the smae size ). You will need to run RCA's to the sub amp ( the 1993 OEM amp will not be enough power to run a 8" or 10" sub ) so new wiring will have to be run any way. You will have to fabricate another enclsoure as well for the sub that you are going to buy because the chances that the enclosure that the OEM sub is in right now will match the enclosure size required by the new sub is unlikely.
