Ive been installing for about a year now but in the next month or so I am going to take the MECP Basic Test.  Do you guys have any hints or thinks I should know before I go take it?

use the study guide; if you've been installing for a while and have half a brain it should be a breeze.

there are practice tests you can take online.  I think one web site that has it is www.ce.org.  I might be wrong.

you are correct; the consumer electronics association is the group that sponsors the certifications.  The study guide has the same practice quizzes as the ones offered on their website.

do the practice tests they will help with the actual test

Since you have experience, then as long as you can do basic math (Ohm's law), and have some common sense, you'll do fine.
