All,

I have a 1997 Toyota 4Runner with power locks & windows.  The windows only work with the key in ACC or ignition on.  Can I jumper a relay or something so the power windows work anytime?  This would be great if anyone has any advice or can point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

The thing about giving this constant power is someone can slip into the window sill of the door jam and push the window button and open the car via the window without having to turn the key on. If you want to do this still, just replace the wire that test 12 volts switched in the door panel for the windows with 12 volts constant. You will need to test this wire at the switch and run a new constant wire ( FUSED ) to the exisitng one and piggyback the switched wire.

Jeff,

Thanks for the reply.  Yeah, I had not thought about that, but even stock as it is now, if they slip in the window they can just hit the power lock button (I think).

I have a factory alarm on the truck so I guess I should figure out how I could disable the power locks/windows when armed (it is not a passive arming system), but leave both operational when not armed?

Any other suggestions on this one?  Does that make any sense you think?

Thanks again for the help!

Chris
