Can anyone give me some feedback about SQ, SPL, comments or general advice about what I've got going into my new company car 2006 Ford Escape, when it arrives:
2 Diamond Audio D9800.2 TDX amps
2 Diamond Audio D910D4 TDX Subs
Diamond Audio D971 TDX components
Aux battery Stinger SP2150

Specs for the enclosure from Diamond. I was told is a seventh order band pass?
F3 38 Hz
Fb 47 Hz
Being an engineer I built the box and it's measurements are dead on accurate, its sealed with fiberglass resin.
The subs will be wired series-parallel for 4 ohms at 800 Watts
The components on the other amp at 4 ohms, 200 watts.
Planning on having alternator rebuilt to 200 amp output locally.
All wiring I have is Stinger 0 ga power from alt, battery, to amps and ground. Subs have 10ga, and components will be 12 ga. All accessories stinger platinum. RCAs to amps Stinger Dream series.
And I have a Sun Hyper grounding system to install.

A few questions - what kind of sound are you shooting for? Why are you sealing the box interior if it's vented - SPL? What makes you think you need a HO alternator with only 1k watts? And why the extra battery?

I think your stock alternator will be fine with that load so unless you just want the higher output for something else I'd save your money, maybe put it towards dynamatting the doors, that'll give you a better return. 2g wire should be fine too unless the amps live in a trailer 30' behind your car. You're going to have a ton of bass & limited mids given the power differentials & box design, but that may be what you want. The extra battery is only helpful if you plan on running the system with the car off - that the plan? Be sure to use an isolator if so Anything for rear fill?.

Shooting for quality sound. Sealed the box just for strength, and finish.
The amp for the front is 200 x 2 so 400 & 800 watts last time I calculated draws close to 200 amps around 175.
Have the isolator and dynamat so covered there, thanks.
Rear fill, considering using my current Diamond components in series with the fronts.
Going for the extra battery as reserve power, instead of caps. Diamonds manual claims the amplifiers are more power dependent then voltage, and doesn't recommend any caps.
And the amps terminals are 0ga so I figured why not have the juice available.

OK, so like a typical engineer you've waaay over-engineered this system IMO... posted_image

If you're looking for SQ I believe you'll be disappointed by the boomy nature of a slot-loaded box, sealed would do you better, again, IMO. You've got the power & it would balance things out better. I think the FG sealing is a waste of time here too.

So you're actually showing your front amp an 8 ohm load? Unless the amp has a regulated power supply your mains will be way underpowered. Better would be 100w x2 up front & a smaller second amp to the rear (35-50w x2). the same 2g wire will handle that fine. Again, this would help balance the system out more.

About amperage draw, it should be more like 100 - check the fuses on those amps. wiring above that will never give you an audible difference. Same for the spare battery. Besides, if it's isolated it won't matter, it's "off" anyway. Nix it. Last , remember the max amperage draw is exactly that - max. Unless you're running the system really hard a lot of the time, you're really only drawing a fraction of the current. There's nothing inherently wrong with overbuilding it, but there's no real gain either. Good luck.

The fuses on the amps are 125. So it seems like Diamond designed them for something serious. I will look into the power supply before I take it to 8ohms, if I do that I was plannig to attenuate the rears.

I have previously had sealed boxes, because I prefer punchy tight bass, and listen to mostly rock. A Diamond rep told me the design was specifically for those subs, and it would be good for the type of bass I want. Oh well, I'll hear, if I don't like it I can always build a sealed one a whole lot easier then this one was to build.
