I have a 98 dodge ram 2500 standard cab.  I had boston pro series 5.5 speakers installed for the front speakers.  I noticed however, that I am lacking the midbass the stock 6X9 drivers were able to produce.  I was wondering if anyone knew a decent company that sold only a 6X9 driver that will fit in the stock location.  I have heard that there is not much space.  I am running the speakers off a ppi a404, so I need drivers that can handle an amp.

How much power does that PPI output ?? There shouldn't be any reason why those Pro Series speakers are not producing enough mid bass ? Give me more power and they will sound better or cut the frequency off steeper so they are not getting so much low bass.

A little trick I used to do in the good ole' days was to take a regular 6X9 (coax or triax) and seperate the tweeter assembly from the woofer. Its a cheat, but it works, if you find one that sounds good to you and if it will fit in the panel.

Also, did you make an adapter mounting plate to bolt the 5.5 woofer into the 6X9 area? If you just mounted the driver without making an adapter plate to seal around the edges, there's your problem.
