Hi guys and gals, I'm the newest member at Evolution Audio, and Abby keeps calling my a Text Book installer, mostly because I use the  wire sheets to much. And I was wondering if there is an easy way to remember which wires I need to tap into for car starters and alarms? We get a lot of Chevys, Dodge Trucks, and lots of Ford Vans, and Kias and stuff. Is there an easy way to remember which wires I need to know to make the starter work with out the use of the sheet all the time? Like chevs are the easiest, it's almost match the wire colours up and go. But is there an easy way to remember the wire colours on the new Dodge pickups, and Kia Rios, and Nissan Altimas? Any help will be muchly appricated. Thanks everyone.

Trav

Oh ya, what all tools should a guy make sure he has to complete the jobs. I got a drill, and test light, and a few other odds and nodds. But is there any specialty tools that a guy should have, or regular tools that a guy should have on his tool belt and might come in handy?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿

Get yourself a GOOD digital mutimeter.....try and avoid the "test light" as mush as you can.

As far as the wire color memory thing goes....it will come with time and repetition.....using the tech sheets is allways a good plan. Myself I print out 2 different

sheets on each vehicle I work on. For a comparison...

I would print out 2 spec sheets to compair as well, we generally dont have a lot of time to look for two specs. I got a good ish multimeter, but I have learned to use the test light effeciently, and I think I'm quicker without the multi meter. but I'll try it. and there is no easy way to comite the colours to memory quickly eh. well i guess il just have to do it the old facationed way. thanks. oh i got another question, relays.......... is there an easy way to know the proper way to use these things, i read the many web pages about releys on this site, but its still a little fuzzy around the corners. thanks.

The most useful tool in my toolbox is my 6x9 wholesaw. It save so much time it is rediclous. Also the custom kit maker/bender is right up there as well.

A little 400 grit sandpaper will take care of the fuzzy corners on those relays, they do it to me sometimes as well.

One of the stores I worked at had a green installer calling other locations for 6, YES I SAID 6, hours bouncing back and forth between different locations looking for the custom kit maker. All the install managers were in on the joke. Once he found out what it was he almost quit.

thats funny, a drywall strecher, i had my ex look for elbow greese for me. after about 2 hours she came back and asked what does it look like. so i told her its in a tube labeled elbow greese. it took her about 4 hours intotal to realize that there is no such thing.
