I have an '04 suzuki forenza, with about 16,000 miles on it. Just recently it began making a whining noise, almost similar to when disc brakes begin to rub. Sort of like metal on metal. I brought it back to the de3alership, and they found no problem, because it doesn make the noise all the time, so i guess they didnt notice it. when i brought it to my other mechanic, he said it was the transmission, however only the dealer can open the closed transmission cab. I recently hooked up a remote starter to my car and tapped into the gray tach wire on the ecm. The sound has got worse now. I was wondering if anyone had any advise or if anyone thought this may be a bad ecm. thanks in advance.
Sounds very strange that tapping into a tach wire would cause a whining noise.
You could: unhook it and see if the whine subsides. If the sound is still there, take it back to the dealer. It should have plenty of warrenty left on it, so I see no reason to go into detail. If you really wanted to know, than maybe try to pin-point where it's coming from. If it's intermittent, let the dealer keep it until it makes the noise. I would unhook the remote starter before you bring it there. This should not effect warrenty, but I'm a "don't give them a reason" guy.
Let us know what it was.
