This is a follow-up to a previous post about the fan circuit in our Pathfinder. I am trying to chase down the source of an intermitent high-pitched whine (kinda like a TV frequency noise) related to the blower circuit. When the noise happens, turning the blower switch off makes it stop....
So, I'm wondering if the resistor in the circuit could be at fault. According to the schematic, there are not alot of components in this system, so I'm picking them off one at a time. I just don't want to be spending extra time and money on unnecessary repairs.
So is it possible for a resistor to emit a "frequency'like" (bad description - sorry) noise?

Very large resistors can make a humming sound, but I doubt if a normal small one is making any noise by itself.

check ur grounds man. maybe something you installed is sharing the same ground as hvac control head or blower motor..
They do typically use wire wound high current resistances to regulate fan speed in a vehicle's HVAC system. I can't see them being transmittive, as it is DC current that is passing through them. I'd be looking to the motor as a culprit. It is something that can induce some neat stuff into any wiring running near it, as it can creat a bit of a field around it if it isn't shielded or grounded properly. (maybe, never know)
