ok, i'm a total noob, but here's what i want to do- i want to bypass my 96 miata's starter entirely, and replace the whole shooting match with a illuminated pushbutton (probably SPST) that i can use as a start button, and an off switch. i will be throwing in an ignition kill switch for security, but i want the car to crank when i hit the start button, unless the engine is already running, or at shutdown. (i can figure out the ignition kill, but i just don't know where to start with the other. in fact, i'm considering wiring in a fingerprint scanner from a PDA, but i'm not sure yet....) any help on this challenging project would be appreciated! :D

blazoner, they make plenty of remote starters that are safe for a 5 speed. Just a note.
