I have looked at a few wiring diagrams on this site and I have a question. Are the color codes for the wires referring to the wires behind the stereo? I mean the switched wire and the 12V wire...are those colors for the stock receiver, or are some of those referring to the ignition switch?

The colors shown here for example are the vehicle wiring colors.

I guess I am confused...I looked at the diagram for a 2000 Xterra and the colors are all wrong at the speakers. So all I can figure is that the colors are actually for the factory stereo wiring harness. Whether that harness changes colors between the receiver and the speakers depends on the vehicle, right?
