....seems impossible. What does it take to get guys that are good? We offer all the good stuff, good pay, good benefits, good work environment, but they just don't seem to be there. The most you get is guys that have 1 or 2 years experience and just aren't ready to be on thier own for installs. Some of our stuff is a little tough, Nav systems that need steering wheel control interface, or interface with factory DVD, lots of remote starts, etc. I talk to a dozen guys that want to be installers, but know dick. Heck, half of them don't even have tools! Is it just the area(Maryland)?

And the worst part is those of us who are great installers very proficient, and extremely knowledgeable just don't get paid enough to support a family, so where's the incentive to become a great installer? How many of us are ever gonna be Dave Riveras? I'm not sure about anywhere else, but in New England we're very much underpaid!

Not here, we pay better than anybody in the state. I have guys making 80 and 90k a year. Heck, we pay a trainee 600 a week. The problem here seems to be everybody is at trainee level. Having said that, why aren't the great installers beating down our door?
