And.......P.S.    it really doesn't matter.......K

I have 20+ years, and I won't pay for the classification, or the ranking of MECP.

What harm does a certificate( a piece of paper) from the Consumer Electronics Assocoation's MECP have?posted_image    Why Bash MECP??   We have all seen a new installer who is Basic MECP certified with no experience, who does not know which end of a wrench to use.  The basic test is just that basic, beginner, novice and it doen't included a hands on test... Unfortunately there is no standardized test for common sense.  There are Advanced and Master tests in MECP  that require experience and  have questions that only a veteran installer would know.  Don't get me wrong,  I would much rather have an experienced installer with no cert than one with only a basic cert and no experience. But why not strive for excellence and have both.  I belive it is more a personal acheivement than a rubber stamp on who is good installer. I learn something new almost everyday and sometimes that comes from reading or studying a new feature or vehicle design.

YES I am a MECP basic installer, installing for 6 years, took the test last year 98%,  planning on taking the Advanced MECP this year for my own challenge and satisfaction..   Good Luck

The day that the course can teach common sense is the day that I will invest in it.

I refer to common sense as "uncommon sense" because it is becoming more scarce. the gene pool is becoming contaiminated. The real problem is you either have it or you don't.
As far as MECP, my main gripe is the way the test questions are written. They are not very clear. They are not written by installers or 12 volt people. They need to fix that.

ha ha ha ha ha  mecp helps and but doesnt   make you  an installer. but the basic test is $ 35 ( not quite an extravagant investment ) i spent more than that on dinner last night. if your afraid to take the test its ok but dont bash mecp for trying to help new people who dont know the first thing about safety and stuff. lets be real, we all started some where.
