Anyone know which wire to use on a VW TDI to get a tach signal for a remote starter? (-input)

Thanks...

  • The 4 cylinder tach wire is green with a stripe.  @ ignition coil
  • The 6 cylinder tach is either purple with a stripe, or black with a stripe.    @ ignition coil

No coil on the TDI (diesel). The wire to the tach is AC only and the starter only recognizes a negative pulse. I suspect I might need to use the "vacuum mode" on the remote starter. The Command Start CS260M that I'm trying to install requires a mod to be done to the main board to use this mode. I don't however have this info. Anyone out there remember how this is done?

I just installed a remote starter and i didn't want to run a wire to the engine and I didn't want to touch my ecm. so i took the instrument panel out and I found one going to the rpm thing. whats that called? I got my volt meter out and set it to ohms and checked the wires. the ohms will increase when you give the car gas. mine was the second to the last and it was grey.
