I am trying to install a remote starter in a 2001 Toyata Highlander. I have reached a point where I need to bypass the coded key and have to install an Immobilizer Bypass Module. I am trying to locate the "data", "clock" and "synch" wires from the ignition to the ECM. Does anyone have the wiring diagram for these?

"When using the 555XW, the synch wire is gray, clock wire is pink, data wire is gray/blue, ignition wire is white, and ground wire is WHITE/ black."

Thanks for the speedy reply. I have the same info from the install sheet that came with the immobilizer (model 555x). Unfortunately I can't find any such colored wires coming from the ignition switch on the column. I have a 6 pack harness that has the wires for hooking up the main remote. Then I have a 4 wired harness right next to the 6-pack that has 2 yellow/black wires, a blue/grey wire and a pink&blue/grey wire. Can you tell me where I should look for the gray, pink, gray/blue wires as it relates to the six pack harness? Thanks, Ken

It should either be a harness close to the ignition harness with small wires (maybe 20 gauge or smaller), or at the diagnostic plug, but test to be sure. Also check the instructions of your interface piece- it should say where to look.

Hi Geepherder! I'm still not having any luck. I can't find any harness with "gray, pink, and gray blue wires". I have checked all around the ignition harness and the diagnostic plug for them. The "instructions" just give me the same color scheme and the steering column. I've also checked by the ECM with no luck. Sure would appreciate some new ideas. I see 4 small wires next to the ignition harness, but they are yellow/black (2), blue/grey and pink&blue/grey bands. How do I test them if I'm stuck with trying these. Thanks, Ken

Usually it tells you how to test for function. You can try tech support, or post this in the alarm forum. Many times the wires are there, but are nearly impossible to find. They may be bundled together in tape, a vinyl sleeve, or something like that.

pull the cover off around the ignition switch the wires change colors at a connector the wires you are looking for are coming off the transponder antenna ring which surrounds the keyswitch have fun programming the bypass take your time but not too much time while pushing gas pedal

Still problems - but different this time. I have been able to start the Highlander with the remote start. Now I can't get the gear shift out of park ( with or without the key). I probably screwed up the soldering at the brake pedal light switch. Certainly no good now since I can't get the car out of Park - even without the remote starter. Any ideas are appreciated.

Does the remote start die when you step on the brake? If not, then you may have blown a fuse, which would cause it not to shift out of park. Your brake lights will not work, either. ------------- My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

Hi Geepherder The Remote Start dies when I step on the brake. The brake lights work. All of this seems to be working "right" - but I can't get the car out of PARK - with or without the remote start or keys. Sure am stuck now. Ken

Thanks Everyone! We "win" in this battle of man against technology. I dis-assembled the connection to the brake light and re-solderd it. Now everything works: remote starter, brake shutoff and gear shift interlock! Again, thanks, especially to Geepherder. P.S. - I'll not venture to do this sort of DYI job again. Thanks, Ken

Actually, tj told you the most important information- where to hook up your wires.
