Hi,

I have 1988 AE82 Toyota Corolla and the problem I have is that everything electrical in the car works okay but not 100% i.e. The lights are not very bright, the Wipers work slowly, the horn can hardly be heard,if I take the horn off and connected directly to the battery it works good.

It seems that the cars electrical is not producing enough power.

Regards,
Hector,

Have somebody check the output of the alternator.

Thanks supradude,

How can I check this myself, I do have a multimeter, if I had instructions on what output I'm suppose to get and what needs to be, it will be much appreciated.

Regards,
Hector.

If you check the battery with the car off, it should read around 12.4. Then crank the car and check, it should read around 13.8 to 14.2.  Also make sure it is idleing at the correct rpm's.

It sounds like you may have grounding issues.  Check your body grounds- make sure they're clean and tight.  Also, make sure your battery cables are free of corrosion.  If you have any, clean it off, and coat the terminals with grease.
