If it's like any other CS model, you hook up the fuses to the RED and the RED / BLACK wires.

You do not have the tach wire properly programmed. When CS makes the units it is set for 6 cylinder mode. You will need to program it for 4 cylinder mode.

The only other one is an injector. Use the uncommon colored one, but then you must program the CD to a 1 cylinder ingine with a medium idle speed.

OK, I have programmed it for 1 cyl and tried all three settings for 1a.1b.1c 2cy; & 3 cyl. It seems to start better on 1b this is what happens though, It starts and runs for about 2 seconds and then shuts off. I am baffled what else could it be?

It looks like I may have almost the same problem. I bought this 270i without the wiring diagram or book and with the help of this site and its members I have it all hooked up. I'm installing it into an 89 Voyager MiniVan when prssing the trunk button it flashes the lights 10 times. The door lock and un\lock work properly . Pressing the start allows the starter to start the vehicle for approx. 1 second then shuts off. With the tach wire installed to the blk/grey at the coil it does this . If I disconnect the tach wire it starts and stays running for 5 seconds with the starter spinning then shuts off. Is there a reset procedure for command start starters that may help ?

Thanks In Advance

You have the wrong tach wire. It should be a gray or gray/black .

No not sure how to reset anything on this CS unit I have no documentation for it. Is it possible to hook up tachless I have installed a few others like that and they seemed to work fine. If not any help would be greatly appreciated.

The CS does not have a tachless mode.Click the link below for a programming sheet for the CS270i ( which is the same as the 290i )

Just so you know the 290 is a bit different then the 270 in that it has a different transmitter.  Button 1 is the on on the left, button 2 is the right and button 3 is the same as holding both buttons down at the same time.

Yes my transmitter is exactly like the one in the scan. The model I have is the 270i so the quick guide you gave me is right on the money thanks !

I've tried to reset the unit with the hood pin method and the lights come on for 3 seconds and go off when you open the hood. After pressing the switch down and releasing it the lights flash once but they do not stay on. Is there something I may be missing. I've rechecked all the connections , not sure where to go from here.

Open the hood.
Wait for lights to go out.
Press hood switch and realease.  Park lights will come on.
Press hood switch AGAIN while lights are on and release.  They should stay on at this point.

O.k. not sure how to explain this but I do have it working now. Is it possible that the unit I have doesn't have 9 steps for programming channel 1. Each time I reset the unit and tried to program it there would be only 8 flashes in the total sequence. The vehicle never stayed running and after resetting the unit without programming it the starter would not respond to any button pushes. I reset and programmed it leaving out step 1 and it started and has been working ever since. It still flashes 10 times when I press the trunk button not sure what this would be either. If anyone may have any insight on this it would be appreciated. Thanks again Jeff and Player69 for all your help.

I don't think that is the proper programming for the 290.  There is 1 to many steps i think.  The remote arming shouldn't be there.

It is supposed to flash 10 times when you push the trunk button.
