Check to see if the door chime is going through the driver side speaker. If it is, you have a ODBII system in the vehicle . This means that the radio controls certain functions of the truck that is required and you have to retain it or get a harness that bypasses the OEM system. The Metra # vt-gmrc-01 allows you to install an aftermarket radio in a class II vehicle without having to use the 70-2003T and SP-2003 speaker. It has all the electronics and speaker in a small unit so you don't have to use the OEM radio.

Good questions. Look for all srews and remove them. The door handle plate usually needs to be slid to the side and then pulled out. The whole door should be clipped in with the white panel plugs. You will need to unplug the harness from the door lock and window modules after you get the door panel unhooked from the door skin.
