We use brad nail or staples & glue to hold the MDF together.

If you use brads  you get a much more proffessional look.

once the glue dries, the wood will break before the bond does

I use screws but i also use liquid nail, u can purchase 2 corner clamps these will help you to hold the edges together tight . I also predrill the holes for the screws I use a small drill bit to predrill. this keeps the MDF from splitting apart on u

the corner clamps can be picked up at LOWES or Home Depot for around $10

For those using brad nailers, what brand and gauge are you using, and which glue are you using?

Lately I've been using Gorrilla Glue and 15 gauge finishing nails.  Sometimes I use #10 wood screws.  The nails and/or screws are just to hold the edges together while the glue dries.   Faster than clamps...

What is a brad?

A brad is like a finishing nail. But  to use them you have to have  an air compressor, and a brad nailer (brad gun). They aren't as big as screws, so they won't split the MDF, And they are small enough so they're hardly noticeable.

IMO much easier, and better looking.

Like DYohn said, They're only to hold the MDF together until the glue dries.  I use Carpenters Wood Glue.
