A few weeks ago I installed a new head unit in my 1988 Honda Civic CRX.  Ocassionally the head unit completely loses power and stays off for a few minutes even while the engine is on.  My first thought was that the unit was improperly grounded, so I ran the ground wire directly to the chassis....I'm still having the same problem.  Next, I used a multimeter to check the power connections and found that when the head unit loses power (and the engine is on), there is no voltage at the connection between the vehicle's +12 volt ignition wire (red) and the factory radio wire harness.  Does this mean that there is a short in my electrical system or is it possible I connected something incorrectly?  If it is a short, can someone suggest what I should try next?

Run a wire straight from the battery to the HU with a 10 amp fuse inline.
